Hope everyone is having the most lovely weekend. I’m trying to cut down on my internet time because I really need to be working on edits and I’m preparing for lots of visitors in the upcoming weeks. But here are a few links that I couldn’t resist taking a look at:
- The Five Worst Things That Happen While Reading
- 90 Days, 90 Pancakes – a blog I found written by a fellow Smithie and Albright House resident with pancake recipes ranging from Vegan Coconut Pancakes to Zucchini Feta Pancakes. Yum!
- Ridiculous Ways the Internet Explains adults reading YA
- Authors Ally Carter and Cassandra Claire got into a discussion about how Hollywood treats female-centric YA fiction.
- How comfortable do you feel getting naked?
- 20 things twentysomethings are tired of hearing and 25 things to know by age 25.
- Finally a father shares realistic views on his daughter and sexuality.
- Famous Writer’s Typewriters.
- When do you get to call yourself a “real writer”?
- Does every heroine you write have to kick butt?
- Hardcovers & Heroines was nominated for a Leibster Award by the blog Revolution for Breakfast. I love getting blog awards, but since the blogs been nominated for this one before I decided not to make a post. Seriously though, check out Revolution for Breakfast, it’s one of my favorite new book blogs.
So many great links! And thanks for the shout-out! I enjoyed Kristen Lamb’s “real writer” post. I’m about to read the ridiculous things said on the Internet to explain adults reading YA. I’m very curious about that! Anyway, congrats on your award!
Thanks for reading and for writing that great post! I’ve been thinking about if my female characters are strong enough all week.
Awww, thank you for mentioning me here, Alison! I am glad you got nominated, regardless. I just checked out the ways the Internet explains why adults read YA – um, wtf?! Total mindless escapism? Nothing beneath the surface? Always a happy ending?! I could direct these people to a few choice books! Grrr.
But good post! 😀
I know … I think it’s crazy the way the media tries to describe how/why people like certain kinds of books … it’s usually just that they are good. Thanks for commenting and thanks again for the fab nomination!
