Since I started blogging, I’ve learned a lot of acronyms (or perhaps initialisms as John Green would want me to say) about books and writing. I compiled a list of ones I’ve learned and ones I’ve used that readers have asked me about. Let me know in the comments if there is one you’ve been confused about or if there’s one I should know that I haven’t included on this list. Also let me know if I misdefine an acronym … it’s very possible. I’m a girl who has believed more than once that gullible was written on the ceiling.
- BOTM: Book of the Month
- CP: Critique Partner
- DNF: Did Not Finish
- HEA: Happily Ever After
- HFN: Happy for Now
- MG: Middle Grade book
- MS: Manuscript
- NA: New Adult book, this is a relatively new genre where the characters are aged 18 to 24/25. So far most NA books in the spotlight have been romances or erotica.
- OTT: Over the Top
- PNR: Paranormal Romance
- POV: Point of View
- SF: Science Fiction or Speculative Fiction
- SF/F: Science Fiction and Fantasy
- TBR: To Be Read list (all the books you’ve been telling yourself you’ll read when you get a chance or books you want to read in the future).
- UF: Urban Fantasy
- YA: Young Adult book

TL:DR (too long, didn’t read) Used as a dismissive response to a lengthy online post, or to introduce a summary of a lengthy post. But equally useful when discussing books.
