With the new biography and documentary coming out it seems like everyone is talking about J.D. Salinger (especially everyone in yesterday’s New York Times). I have a bit of a complicated relationship with this author, which I might write about later, but as a teenager I devoured his books and fell in love with his characters. They were all sad. They were all flawed. But I related to them, and they made me think. Anyways, although it feels a little inappropriate, I’m wondering who you would marry, date or dump out of three of Salinger’s most iconic male characters. If you find it to weird or depressing to choose between Holden, Zooey, and Seymour, then maybe you can play the game with the three books in which they appear. Either way I’m excited to see what you think in the comments.

Franny and Zooey is a lot of people’s favorite, but I like Catcher in the Rye better. I do think Zooey would make a better husband than Holden though (even though Holden’s one of my all time favorite characters).

Marry Zooey, absolutely fell in love with his looks, sarcasm/quick wit and personality at first read. Date Seymour because his intellectual knowledge and ‘sick Artist’ façade would be an interesting date. Dump Holden because I did not enjoy catcher in the rye at all
