Here are the top ten books that always make me cry for the weekly book meme from The Broke and the Bookish. It’s not that hard to make me cry, so this list is definitely the elite of the the tear-jerkers sitting on my shelves. For serious, one of these books made me cry in a doctor’s waiting room, one made me so upset I stayed up all night rearranging the furniture in my room, and while reading another one I cried so often during my commute that my bus driver stopped charging me. That’s a good one. For some reason I didn’t cry while reading it (although I’ve seen it on lots of other blogger’s list today). Maybe I have a heart of stone.
YOu can’t take the ’70’s out of me – I have to add Love Story and Brian’s Song – I read both before the movies
I totally forgot about how much I cried while reading love story. I think I’d blocked that memory.
Half the Sky is my book club pick for March…thanks for the tearjerker warning!
It was a book club pick for me as well. It is so good, but also really tragic. This is the book that made my bus driver feel so bad for me he stopped punching my card in the mornings.
Oh my gosh–I totally forgot about Every Last One! I love that book–and I did tear up at a couple parts. I can’t believe I left that one off my own list!
Yeah, that one was crazy for me. I read it in one day and had no idea what it was about. I think the tears were as much just a huge shock as being sad.
I’ve seen Me Before You on a few lists today. I’m really intrigued by that one.
It is really really good and emotionally complex, but everyone I know has teared up at least once while reading it. I would definitely add it to your TBR list.
Mockingjay, The Fault in Our Stars and Harry Potter all made my list. I just added Me Before You to my TBR because I’ve seen it on several lists. I love a book that can make me cry!

What a kindly bus driver!
I know. It was ridiculous. The saddest part of leaving that job was not having the same bus driver anymore.
I’ve heard that Me Before You is a devastator and I can’t wait to read it. Every Last One is not one that I was familiar with, but I just looked it up and I have to say that I’m intrigued. Great list!
I high recommend both books. I would say Every Last One is even a little higher than Me Before You in my opinion.
