This week, in a Top Ten Tuesday Rewind, The Broke and the Bookish, asked bloggers to choose from any of the previous categories. I am relatively new to this book meme, so I picked one of the earliest subjects: favorite fictional couples from books.
Anne and Gilbert, from Anne of Green Gables
Elizabeth and Darcy, from Pride and Prejudice
Polly and Tom, from An Old-Fashioned Girl
Meg and Calvin, from A Wrinkle in Time
Rainbow Rowell
Jessica and Marcus, from Sloppy Firsts
Hermione and Ron, from The Harry Potter Series
Gail Carson Levine
Shakespeare
Cecily and Algernon, from The Importance of Being Earnest
Who are your favorite literary couples? Let me know in the comments!

Meg and Calvin were my ultimate OTP before I even knew what that meant. I rooted so hard for them to get together, and I think they have such a great relationship. Anne and Gilbert are another that just swept me away-especially when they were older.
Cath and Levi are definitely my favorite of the moment. I can’t stop rereading all the scenes where they are together in Fangirl, over and over and over again.
Ron and Hermione forever!!! I don’t even care that JK Rowling did that interview where she said she probably shouldn’t have put them together… I don’t even care! It happened and it was glorious.
Ah – love Elizabeth and Darcy, Ella and Char, and Jessica and Marcus! Other faves would have to be Alex and Brittany (Perfect Chemistry) and Heather and Cooper (Heather Wells series).
That could be fun (in a morbid kind of way). Daisy and Gatsby. Romeo and Juliet. Brett Ashley and Jake Barnes. Tom Wingo and Dr. Lowenstein from Prince of Tides. You’ve got me thinking up a list.
Jo and Laurie from Little Women… even though it wasn’t to be. I’m also a big fan of Katniss and Peeta from the Hunger Games series… I feel like they’re just an interesting pairing and it shows the power of shared experiences (particularly traumatic ones) in a way that I find fascinating!
Couldn’t agree more about Jo and Laurie. That is my biggest “should have been” couple. I also really agree with you about Katniss and Peeta being together is a really interesting comment on trauma, survival, and as you said the power of shared experiences.

My TTT
Meg and Calvin are my favorite too. Also, thanks for making me look up OTP. I feel in the know now.
I adored Anne of Green Gables! What a fun list!
My Top Ten Tuesday
Thanks for commenting Nette!
I’m so happy to see Hermione and Ron on this list! They are my favorite fictional couple ever. Great list!
I love Ron and Hermione, even though there has been some doubt about them recently in the media.
I loved Cath and Levi! 🙂 Hermione and Ron are also a personal favorite. 🙂
Check out my TTT and my birthday giveaway!
I really liked Cath and Levi and Ron and Hermione too. Great list!

I agree with you 100%. She put it in the books, and she can’t take it out now.
I love Beatrice and Benedict from Much Ado About Nothing!
They are my favorite couple from Shakespeare. Both of them are so spunky!

My My Teaser & Top 10 Tuesday: 10 Books I’d Like To Reread
I haven’t read Perfect Chemistry or the Heather Wells series. I will have to add them to my TBR list, because I’m always up for a good romance.
Great pick. Hermione and Ron are my favourite fictional couple ever! Plus… Anne & Gilbert <3. Nice list 🙂 My TTT.
Thanks for commenting. I’m glad to see so many people still loving Ron and Hermione, despite the recent comments from J.K. Rowling.
Great picks! I agree about adding Meg and Calvin. And let us not forget Augustus and Hazel from The Fault in Our Stars!!!
Augustus and Hazel almost made the list. I probably should have put them on over Cecily and Algernon from The Importance of Being Earnest.
It’s a great list. Maybe you could do one for tragic couples too. Let’s face it, they are often way more interesting.
That could be fun (in a morbid kind of way). Daisy and Gatsby. Romeo and Juliet. Brett Ashley and Jake Barnes. Tom Wingo and Dr. Lowenstein from Prince of Tides. You’ve got me thinking up a list.
Jaime and Claire in the Outlander series?… they are the reason I have to keep reading like 10,000 pages later…
Ender and Valentine (although not romantic… they are siblings) from the Ender’s Game Series (comes out more in the later books)
I’m so on board with Ender and Valentine. I’m surprisingly not an Outlander fan, but I know I am in the minority with that opinion.
