Happy Tuesday friends! This is kind of a jumbled together list, but here are books I’ve bought, added to my TBR list, or feel like I should want to read that I’ve started feeling a certain reluctance towards. A few of these I’ve been meaning to read for years! Let me know in the comments which ones I should definitely read, which I should drop, and what books you aren’t sure about.

I’ve tried reading Atlas Shrugged but it’s been over ten years since I started and I’m only half way in. It’s not for me but I know many people who liked the philosophy Ayn Rand writes about. It is the only book in your list that I’ve read (or started to read) although many others are ones on my to-read list.
Yeah, I’m not really down with her philosophy but I did enjoy reading the Fountainhead. I’ve tried Atlas Shrugged twice though and not managed to get beyond the middle, so I might have to give it up.
Yeah I struggled my way through Atlas shrugged. There is this section in it where I guy speaks for about 50 pages. I’m not even exaggerating. Ayn is going to be a serial killer someday – you saw it here first folks.

I’m currently reading House of Mirth and it is wonderful! As for Rabbit Run? I hated it. And I had been really looking forward to it.
I will definitely try to read House of Mirth then. It’s funny, because that was the first book I bought on my kindle in 2008 and for some reason I still haven’t read it.
I have been putting off Wharton in general, but then I read Ethan Frome earlier in the year and now I’m a convert!
Yeah, I liked The Age of Innocence when I read it in school so I don’t know why I’m putting House of Mirth off.
I really enjoyed The Silkworm. I wasn’t sure if it would stand up to the first book but I really liked it.
Good to know. I love the writing style, but mysteries aren’t really my thing. I think that’s why I’m a little reluctant.
I would definitely recommend Wool. If you’re a fan of dystopian books, I think you’ll like that one. It’s REALLY good.
I haven’t read The Cuckoo’s Calling; have you? I’ve been wanting to read JK’s other books, but I tried The Casual Vacancy and didn’t like it, so I haven’t tried her Galbraith ones yet.
Wool has been on my radar for a long time. I want to read it, but when it comes time to actually pick a new book I never seem to pick it. But hopefully you’ve given me some motivation.
I read The Cuckoo’s Calling. It was good but overall thriller/mystery just isn’t my thing.
Atlas Shrugged is one gigantic intimidating book. I tried to read it a couple of times to no avail. Anyone who has read it, I applaud you.

I’m with you on Atlas Shrugged. Absalom, Absalom is the only book I ever resorted to Cliff Notes on in school and I’m still not entirely sure what it’s about. For some reason I can’t wrap my head around Rowling’s other books. Maybe one day but for now they’re on the Not Going to Get Anytime Soon stack.
Absalom, Absalom is one of my friend’s favorites, but Faulkner is definitely not an accessible writer.
I’m not sure Wool is for me either. I haven’t read the Robert Galbraith books yet, but I fully intend to!
We’ll see. I bet I get around to reading both of them. But for now I’m more interested in other books.
… This is the first time I can say I barely know the titles on a list. Oops! I’m with you on the Silkworm — part of me is just drawn to it because of the author, and I need a little more than that.
It was hard for me to come up with the books on this list … most really well known/popular books I will read just to see what the fuss is about.
I’m the same usually, if the book has a pretty cover, several good ratings AND is popular, I want to be in on the secret. I’m trying my hardest to stop that, as it has happened before that I hated a book based on that.
I haven’t read any of these but I do definitely want to read The Silkworm!
