Blog Awards

Had a surprise influx of blog award nominations this week. Huge thanks to ILIKEBOOKSTOOMUCH and Between the Pages and A Sentence Crafter for the nominations. Everyone go check out their blogs!

I have mixed feelings about blog awards in general. I think they are a great way to learn about new blogs, but they also feel a little like the chain letters that I used to get when I was a kid. I would love to get other bloggers opinions on this in the comments.

I have a bunch of reading to do, so in the meantime I will answer one question, give one fact, and point out a few of my favorite blogs. Hopefully I won’t get bad luck for life for not following the directions of each award perfectly.

Question: 1. Who is your favorite Disney Princess?

This is pretty complicated for me. My gut answer is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. This was my favorite of them growing up. I think the animation is beautiful and I love that it is set to the Tchaikovsky music from the ballet. I also love the final scene where her dress keeps changing colors. However, I totally understand that as disney princesses go Aurora has a huge lack of agency within her story … so in terms of who I think are better more fully drawn characters/role models I think Belle or Ariel would be among my favorites as well.

Fact #1: I once sang “Natural Woman” by Carol King a capella in a middle school talent show. It is just as embarrassing as it sounds. I think I was wearing faux leather pants … which obviously doesn’t help.

    1. Totally its like a seesaw. I’ve gotten a few awards and done posts for those in the past, but sometimes I feel like I’m just repeating myself. Not that I’m not always happy to get a nomination…because it is so fun!

  1. I do also feel like they are chain letters, which is why I struggled with tagging people. It really does feel like you’re bothering people sometimes!

    Thanks for the mention!

  2. I entirely agree with you about the chain-letter-quality! Personally, I think nonconformists who find a way to answer them without fulfilling the cycle will get good life-luck, not bad! Of course, it’s coming from someone else who loves “Sleeping Beauty” and the changing-color-dress, so.

p.s. Thanks so much for the mention! *blush*

  3. I feel the same way! I went ahead and did it because I felt honored someone liked my blog haha! And I like sharing some of my favorites! Sleeping beauty is amazing! I’ve a Tchaikovsky fan too and played his music in the orchestra several years ago:)
