All readers (and writers) are different, but I need a good character to engage with a book more than anything else. That’s why this week was so fun and hard. I had so many books to choose from. These are some of my favorites. Let me know yours in the comments!
American Wife, by Curtis Sittenfeld
The Interestings, by Meg Wolitzer
Gingerbread, by Rachel Cohn
Tyrell, by Coe Booth
Where’d Yo Go, Bernadette, by Maria Semple
Eleanor & Park, by Rainbow Rowell
Born Confused, by Tanuja Desai Hidier
The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky
Where’d You Go Bernadette made my list too! (I was going to include Perks, but I had put it in a Monday roundup, so I figured I’d diversify). And I’m happy to see The Goldfinch on here too! It’s definitely character-driven. Great list!
I’ve seen Eleanor & Park on so many lists this week – I really need to get my hands on a copy, I’m desperate to read it!
This is exactly how you should feel. It is SO GOOD. Hope you get your hands on it soon!
Where’d You Go Bernadette nearly made it on to my list too, such a great book, with 2 great characters!
Both characters’ distinct brands of humor were both so good!
Eleanor & Park is pretty amazing as we both know! π Ginger Bread looks good too.
Eleanor & Park is a great choice. I need to read Where’d You Go, Bernadette? soooon.
My TTT.
I haven’t read any of these but at least I’ve heard of a few! Great list! π
Here’s my Top Ten!
I really can’t believe I forgot Perks this week. That’s my favorite book. Who am I? Haha. Great choices, Alison!
Thank you!
