2014 has been another good reading year for me full of lots of new-to-me authors, including the author I ended up writing my thesis on. It was excruciating choosing just ten favorites among the long list, but here’s my best stab at it. Let me know your favorites on my list and the new-to-you authors you loved finding out about this year in the comments. Thanks to The Broke and the Bookishย for hosting this weekly book meme.

Some of my favorites: Laurie Halse Anderson, E. Lockhart, and Benjamin Alire Sรกenz. Great choices!
Those are all new favorites of mine as well. I even ended up writing my thesis about E. Lockhart.
Halse Anderson is not new to me but she is one of my all-time favorites. Great pick! A lot of the others are on my dying to read list. Great picks!
here’s mine
I also have a $30 gift certicate to Amazon giveaway, so check that out if you want.
I don’t know how I managed not to read her books until this year. They are so good!
I’m so glad someone has Benjamin Alire Sรกenz, Aristotle and Dante is one of my favorite books ever! I also have E. Lockhart on my list this week, though I’ve only read We Were Lairs so far.
Great list! =)
Benjamin Alire Sรกenz is a genius. And you have to read The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. It is amazing!
I am a fan of Saenz, Anderson, Lockhart, and Wolitzer. you had a good reading year with these new authors to you. Check out my TTT@Head Full of Books
They are all such great authors. I feel so lucky to have started reading them this year.
I’m so pleased that you’ve enjoyed Laurie Halse Anderson this year. She’s fantastic!
So fantastic! I’ve loved every book of hers that I’ve read.
I’m really looking forward to reading E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars. I have it on my Christmas wishlist and I’m crossing my fingers that I get it.
Great list! ๐
It is great! Although very different from her other books.
I am such a fan of Tahereh Mafi. I know some of her fans dropped off after the last book (you’ll discover why when you read) but I’m a fan now more than ever. Absolutely love her. And her and her hubby Ransom Riggs are so cute together.
I read the last book and loved it! Oh well, maybe I’m not in sync with her other readers. Also totally agree about her and Ransom Riggs. I definitely stalk both of their instagrams.
YES. See I LOVE Warner and a lot of people hate him. I have friends that have basically written her off they were so mad with how it ended. Meanwhile, I LOVED the ending ๐
I haven’t read any of these I’m ashamed to say! I need to get reading. I pretty much worship Melina Marchetta though for the Lumatere Chronicles. I really need to read her other books soon! I’m glad to see Meg Wolitzer is on your list, I am looking forward to finally starting the Interestings.
Oh the Interestings is such a good book! I’m envious that you get to read it for the first time.
Laurie Halse Anderson! I love her. I’m glad you found her this year. ๐ I haven’t read The Impossible Knife of Memory yet, but I’ve heard good things. Also, I really need to read some Tahereh Mafi – I keep seeing her and her books everywhere!
My TTT!
I loved the Shatter Me series SO MUCH. And yes, Laurie Halse Anderson is amazing!
I read We Were Liars this year and am really looking forward to reading more by her. Meg Wolitzer is also on my TBR. Laurie Halse Anderson is completely new to me but I’m really curious about her. Great list!
Thank you. I loved reading your list as well. For some unknown reason I’m having a hard time commenting on all blogger blogs this week, but I am super interested in reading Sarah Morgan. Maybe she will be on my top new-to-me authors of 2015 list next year!
Great List! I need to read Laurie Halse Anderson’s newest book, and I would love to read more by e. Lockhart. I read The Boyfriend List years ago, but I’m thinking about rereading and continuing the series.
I love that series SO MUCH, and to me it just keeps getting better and better. The Impossible Knife of Memory is also fantastic.
Laurie Halse Anderson! I forgot I read Speak earlier this year! So good! Thanks for stoppin’ by! Have a great week!
Thanks! You too!
