When I was in high school I was pretty much obsessed with reading classics. I remember telling friends that I could imagine knowing if something was good or not without knowing if it stood the test of time. Not so much anymore. I don’t know if it is regression or wanting to be a YA writer and needing to keep up with publishing trends or just something that happened, but I love reading contemporary fiction now. Here are my ten favorite books published between 2012 and today. Let me know your opinions on my list and/or some of your favorite books published in the last three years in the comments!
Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this weekly book meme!
I’ve really got to read I’ll Give You the Sun soon! I’m just about to start The Sky is Everywhere for a buddy read, so if I like her writing, I’ll be picking up the other ASAP.
My TTT!
I really think you will like Jandy Nelson. Both books are practically perfect in my mind.
So many people have said that. Yep. The Sky is Everywhere is next. 🙂
I really want to read the Jenny Han and Stephanie Perkins books.
They are two of my all time favorite YA writers so I definitely recommend you read both of them!
I have yet to read Isla but love Anna and Lola so I really must get on this.
Oh my gosh, these are such favorites of mine. I think you will love them!
I also included Jenny Han and David Levithan! But it looks like I need to read Rainbow Rowell, because I keep hearing amazing things!

Yes! If you love Jenny Hand and David Levithan, than I definitely think you will enjoy Rainbow Rowell.
I also loved I’ll Give You the Sun and Aristotle and Dante. I’m glad to see Americanah on your list… I’m in the hold queue for it at the library, so will hopefully be reading it soon!
Hope you enjoy Americanah as much as I did!
Great list! The Interestings sounds like a good read. 🙂
It’s a really great read. If you haven’t read Meg Wolitzer I definitely recommend it and her YA novel Belzhar!
Oh no! How could I have forgotten about The Fault in Our Stars! Such a good book! Here’s my TTT: https://thewornbookmark.wordpress.com/2015/03/03/top-ten-books-i-read-in-the-last-3-years/
I can’t wait to read I’ll Give You The Sun. I absolutely adored The Sky is Everywhere! Fantastic list, as per usual! 🙂
Thanks Chrissi! I can’t wait to see what you think of I’ll Give You The Sun – it is breathtaking!

Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I hope you read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before soon! It is fantastic!
Jenny Han and Stephanie Perkins are two author I really need to read. I’m especially intrigued by Stephanie Perkins. Her books just sound so fun! Aristotle and Dante has caught my eye as well. Great list!
Stephanie Perkins is definitely one of my big favorites. I’ve loved all of her books so much!
We don’t have any books in common (I am not a big contemporary reader), but I have read and enjoyed a couple of the books on your list. Actually, Fangirl would have been on my list as well if I had a few more slots.
A lot of these are on my TBR list. So many books, so little time!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Denise @ Life With No Plot
I was so close to putting I’ll Give You the Sun on my list. The prose was just beautiful, and I loved how it focused on a sibling relationship more than a romance. Thanks for stopping by Girl in the Pages today!
I have heard of but nor read yet any of these. Here is my TTT: http://wordsandpeace.com/2015/03/03/my-top-10-all-time-favorite-books/
I loved to all the boys I’ve loved before!! Some of these I actually have on my TBR list. I am still unsure whether to read TFIOS because of the hype!!
I’ve never read a Meg Wolitzer book, but have heard lots of great things about The Interestings. I’ll have to make sure to take some time to read it this year. 🙂
Half of these were already on my to-read list and I’m adding the others!
