I don’t know about you, but In am pretty fed up with winter (written before the beautiful weather we had yesterday!). Either coincidentally or as a subconscious result of this I’ve found myself reading lots of summery beach books or road trip books … anything with warm weather. Since I figure that some of you might also be looking to escape the cold, even if only through the pages of a good book, I put together a list of summery young adult books. Let me know your favorite summer books in the comments and try to stay warm!
Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this weekly book meme!
I’m definitely tired of winter but there is something cosy about curling up in fluffy socks by the fire with a good book in hand! But give me the beach, the sun and the sea anyday! Since You’ve Been Gone was such a sweet read and that cover just screams summer! Absolutely adored We Were Liars – it completely knocked me for six, it was that surprising! Open Road Summer is on my wishlist too! Great choice this week 🙂

I’m definitely tired of being cold! I read Summer Sisters ages ago and definitely need to reread it. We Were Liars was great and Open Road Summer, Since You’ve Been Gone and My Life Next Door are all on my TBR. Great list!
I love that you did this – I’m so tired of the cold and rainy (which I usually like but this is getting to be too much), so I love that you have a list of summery reads. We’ve talked about how much we both love SYBG, I believe. 🙂 But I also LOVE Sarah Dessen and Jennifer E. Smith!! I haven’t read Open Road Summer, but I’ve been meaning to. Will get to it for spring/summer.
I spun the topic a bit and did ten comics for people who would LIKE to try them!
🙂
I loved the Summer I Turned Pretty series. I read the first one on the beaches in Hawaii. The second on the beaches in Florida six months later. Then went to every B&N in Panama City Beach looking for the third one, all of which were sold out, before finding it in Pensacola before I flew out. Needless to say, three flights later I was done the third. 🙂
I’m now putting ordering Open Road Summer on my to do lists to read on my upcoming trip to Nashville. Sounds like the perfect read for a country music destination.
Oh yes, as much as I loved the record-breaking snowfall where I live, I’m definitely getting tired of winter. I just want to be warm! I don’t think I’m quite ready for summery contemporaries yet, but I keep hearing great things about the books on your list. I’m hoping to check out Since You’ve Been Gone and We Were Liars later this year.
Okay this post is definitely not for me because I hate summer and love winter. Nevertheless, your choices were great!
I’m looking forward to warm weather and these books are perfect for making you feel like its summer! 🙂 Great choices!
Great topic! I’m so tired of all this cold weather. I like getting out some of my books from Junior High and reading them. Nothing speaks of summer like pretending it’s summer vacation and you don’t have to go to school (work) in the morning!
Good topic! Of course, I have no idea what you all are talking about, since it was 75 degrees where I was in California this weekend, but I guess we’re just spoiled on the Best Coast 😉

I hate winter!!!! I live in a climate where there is no winter EVER! I do miss a great pair of jeans however & a doona day. So I fell in love with this topic straight away and am going to check out all the books on this list I haven’t read. What a great idea! Happy reading x
This is a great topic! Who isn’t tired of winter? I read Summer Sisters so many years ago.
Being Australian, I am all for Autumn/Winter to come about now! But I love your selection of Summery novels, and hopefully these will warm me up in these next few months 😀 Keep up the excellent work! ❤ your blog by the way, very organised, minimalistic, and the pictures are adorable!
