Ten Books I’ll Probably Never Read

toptentuesday

I never want to say never when it comes to reading a book. But here are ten books I’ll probably never read, mostly either because they are really really long or really really scary … or just books that I figure if I haven’t read them by now I probably won’t get around to it. I’m fully prepared for people to convince me why I’m wrong about these books in the comments!

Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this weekly book meme.

  1. i tried reading life of pi and i couldn’t get into it. i know i’ll never pick it back up again. i read eat, pray, love and the davinci code and they were just okay. i didn’t understand why there was so much hype surrounding these books.

    1. Yeah, those are three books that I feel like since I haven’t read them by now I’m probably not going to read them. Nothing against the books … I just think I probably won’t get around to them.

  2. I absolutely hated Life of Pi so I’d definitely encourage you to stay away! I’ve read The Da Vinci code and while it’s not a work of genius I quite enjoyed it. It was entertaining at least.

  3. Great list! I don’t see myself reading Proust or Eat Pray Love anytime soon and I’m planning on taking a pass on Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well. While the premise sounds interesting I just don’t want those images in my head. Of the 2 on your list that I’ve read I didn’t overwhelmingly love them. I don’t remember much about Tuesdays with Morrie and after Da Vinci Code I felt like I needed a nap because they spent the entire book frantically running around!

    1. Good to hear your opinions. I’m in the exact same boat with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I’m sure it’s good, but I don’t want those images in my head either.

  4. I’m not a fan of any of these books, so don’t worry, I won’t be encouraging you to read them! πŸ˜€ Great list!

  5. Life of Pi is weird. It’s almost like I would encourage you to read it once, so the twist takes effect, but after that, bleh. I actually really liked Eat, Pray, Love, but I was in a spot in my life that a lot of her words resonated. I’m still mad that it ends the way it does. There’s no way it would have sold if she’d become self-aware and not found a guy (i’m assuming that’s not a spoiler due to the ‘love’ in the title). Your list has a few I agree with (scary I cannot do!)

  6. Oh my gosh! Great minds think alike because I have said the exact same thing about several of these. I’ve never had a desire to read Eat, Pray, Love even though everyone to this day is shocked I haven’t read it. And Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – SO long.
