I decided to go back to my all-time classic book for marry, date or dump this week. Pride and Prejudice. Yes, you might think that everyone would chose Darcy. But there are actually a lot of secret Bingley fans out there. And I’ve met at least two people who would vehemently argue that Colonel Fitzwilliam is the man for them. I have to admit I was partially inspired by Emery Lord’s new(ish) book The Start of You and Me, which I read last week and features a Jane vs. Lizzy/Bingley vs. Darcy debate that I was a little obsessed with. So anyways, have at it! Of these three characters, tell me in the comments who you would marry, who you would date, and who you would dump.
Here are my picks:
- Marry: Darcy ( I can totally understand all the arguments for why both Bingley or Fitzwilliam would be better husbands, but I don’t care. Lake scene + Pemberley = no other option for me.)
- Date: Fitzwilliam (I love him in the book *less so in the movie* and think that if he wasn’t poor he and Lizzy would have definitely ended up together. Although that would have made the story much less interesting, so I’m glad that didn’t happen!)
- Dump: Charles (This is basically by default, but I also think I’d find his incessant optimism a little annoying. Also those sisters!)
Alison Doherty 
I’d SO marry Darcy (we’re both INTJs so at least it wouldn’t be boring), date Charles (or Bing Lee from LBD) because I could use some sunshine in my life and probably dump Fitz (don’t remember much about him)

Um, MARRY COLONEL FITZWILLIAM. So hot and so manly. Date Mr. Darcy. Dump Mr. Bingley (too starry eyed and mercurial)

I would marry Bingley (hope miss Bingley would be married by then), date Darcy and probably remain friends with Fitz (I do not enough about him to do otherwise).

Bingley is a sweet. In the novel he stands out very much as Darcy, at times more than Darcy but the movies focus more on Darcy.
Dump – Colonel Fitzwilliam (because of the speech to Elizabeth about how he basically won’t pursue her because she’s not wealthy enough and he won’t let go of his spending habits)
Date – Charles Bingley (optimism, loves the outdoors – think he’d be a fun date)
Marry – Fitzwilliam Darcy (nothing in all of literature to rival his courtship of Elizabeth Bennett. Also great landlord brother and I can picture him being a great statesman. I’d vote him in for President! ;))
Marry: Mr. Darcy (duh!)
Date: Bingley (I just hope we could still be friends afterwards!)
Dump: Colonel Fitzwilliam (nothing against him, I just prefer the others)
