WIth Mechanica, by Betsy Cornwell, coming out this month I was definitely already in the mood to answer this week’s top ten tuesday topic: fairytale retellings. I was obsessed with CInderella retellings as a middle schooler and even though that interest has cooled a little bit, I definitely am looking to read more fairytale retellings in the coming days. Here are a few I’ve read that I’ve really enjoyed. Can’t wait to read yours in the comments!
Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this weekly book meme!
I’ve seen The Bloody Chamber on a few lists today, and I’ve never heard of it. Must go check it out! My TTT
There’s so many books on this list I want to read – Howl’s Castle, Cinder, anything by Maggie Stiefvater, and Fairest. I hadn’t heard of Tides or The Bloody Chamber but I’ll have to go find out more about them.
Wow. I keep seeing Sarah J. Maas’s book in lists. If I made a list, I would have some of the same books on it. Maggie’s book, Ella Enchanted. But top of my list would be Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. I also loved Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier–the retelling of the twelve dancing princesses story.
We have a few of the same books on our lists! I really want to read Court of Thorns and Roses. I’m actually not a fan of Cinder…I seem to be the only one! Here’s my TTT!
Ooh, The Bloody Chamber is a classic.
Mechanica really intrigues me đŸ™‚ I’ve read most of these, but not that one. Ella Enchanted is one of the best fairytale retellings of all time.
Tides is the other book I’m not familiar with. I’ll have to check it out.
Nice list!
