Happy Tuesday, friends. I struggled with this week’s topic. Because I’m generally a fan of anything and everything romantic, I thought I’d write about books that could have used more smooching. I know a lot of people wish YA didn’t have as much romance (if you are such a person here is a list for you), but I’m the opposite. If I feel a little meh about a book, usually I think there could have been more romance or more specifically more smooching. But it felt really mean to call out those books, so instead here are ten deeply romantic YA books that don’t *need* more smooching – however I wouldn’t complain if they did have more because I’m so in love with the characters! Long live romance! And have great weeks everyone!
Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this weekly book meme!
OMG, YES, to all of these, especially The Winner’s Curse. More smoochies between Kestrel and Arin, please!
I would read a whole 4th book about them just smooching and bickering (but mostly smooching!)
YEEESSSS!!!!
I don’t mind a romance if the romance fits in with the story. It always drives me crazy if a romance is kind of forced in and feels like there was an editor’s note somewhere saying there needed to be a romance! I have The Wrath and The Dawn and The Winner’s Curse on my TBR! Both look fantastic!
Yeah! I hear you on romance feeling forced being unsatisfying reading. Hope you love The Wrath and the Dawn and Winner’s Curse as much as I did!
I love your take on the topic and I felt similarly about it feeling a little mean. Of the books you’ve listed, I’ve only read Fangirl but I totally agree. It didn’t need more, but I would have been happy with more too!
Levi is probably my favorite YA boy ever. And those kissing scenes!
🙂 Love what you’ve done with the list this week! It was quite tricky. You’ve picked some interesting books!
Thank you!
I don’t think I’d complain about more smooching in The Winner’s Curse. Those characters just could not catch a break. Looking back, they really didn’t have too many happy moments. Great topic!
I know. They definitely deserved more smooching/happy times.
Fangirl is still one of my favorite YA’s- such great characters. And Levi and Cath were awesome. 🙂
It’s definitely in my top 5 YA books! So so good!
That Jenny Han book popped up onto my radar last year, and I’ve been lusting after it ever since! I can’t wait to read it.
Great list!
It’s a big favorite of mine. I hope you love it as much as I did.
I feel the same about Fangirl and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. 🙂
Lauren @ Always Me
!!!!!!
Great list! I love Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. =)
Yes! Such a good book and swoon worthy romance!
