1.) Sometimes you have to lie for social reasons: “I am always saying “Glad to’ve met you” to somebody I’m not at all glad I met. If you want to stay alive, you have to say that stuff, though.”

Marry, Date or Dump: Holden Caulfield, Zooey Glass, and Seymour Glass

tumblr_m4416iOpwh1rrnnreo1_500With the new biography and documentary coming out it seems like everyone is talking about J.D. Salinger (especially everyone in yesterday’s New York Times). I have a bit of a complicated relationship with this author, which I might write about later, but as a teenager I devoured his books and fell in love with his characters. They were all sad. They were all flawed. But I related to them, and they made me think. Anyways, although it feels a little inappropriate, I’m wondering who you would marry, date or dump out of three of Salinger’s most iconic male characters. If you find it to weird or depressing to choose between Holden, Zooey, and Seymour, then maybe you can play the game with the three books in which they appear.
