What Sister from Little Women Are You?

Little Women

I grew up taking hundreds of quizzes online. And I still do. But this is the first one that I’ve made for the Internet and it’s about one of my all time favorite books. I seriously wrote a paper for my YA and Identity class in grad school about my existential crisis in high school trying to figure out if I was a Meg or a Jo. Even though I made the quiz … I didn’t get the exact answer I was looking for.

Take my quiz and let me know in the comments what sister you get (and if you think it’s the right answer!)

Burn, Read, Rewrite: Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, & Jane Eyre

Since it’s a new year I’m trying something new this month. Marry, Date or Dump has been getting a little stale lately so I thought I’d try a book version of the game I’ve seen around on tumblr. It’s called Burn, Read, Rewrite. Burn is the equivalent of dump. Rewrite is kind of the equivalent of date- although you can also list what you would change about the novel. Read equals marry.  Continue reading “Burn, Read, Rewrite: Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, & Jane Eyre”

Marry, Date or Dump: The Men from Little Women

jo-and-laurieWhen you think of Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, the first thing you think about is the women, right? I mean it is right in the title. Women. However, part of what made the book exciting, and at times infuriating (I’m looking at you Jo), is the men in the books and wondering which man each girl was going to end up with. Since I’ve already done a marry, date or dump for the March sisters, I thought it would be fun to see who you’d choose between Laurie, Mr. Brooke, and Frederich Bhaer. Let me know in the comments!  Continue reading “Marry, Date or Dump: The Men from Little Women”

Marry, Date or Dump: Jo March, Anne Shirley, & Hermione Granger

Happy Monday friends! I picked three of my favorite smart literary heroines for today’s marry, date or dump. We’ve got Jo March from Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables, by L. M. Montgomery, and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter books. Have fun figuring out who you would marry, who you would date, and who you would dump. I seriously don’t know who I would dump from this bunch – they are all winners!  Continue reading “Marry, Date or Dump: Jo March, Anne Shirley, & Hermione Granger”

Twelve Life Lessons from Little Women

1. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger: “I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.”

2. Learn from your mistakes: “Don’t cry so bitterly, but remember this day, and resolve with all your soul that you will never know another like it.”  Continue reading “Twelve Life Lessons from Little Women”

Marry Date or Dump: Little Women

Girls who read this book, love to talk about which March sister they are most like. I suspect many boys (if they read the book) would talk about which one they would marry … or maybe, knowing a very little bit about the ways of teenage boys, which sister was hottest.

Marry Date or Dump: Peter, Calvin and Laurie

The rules are simple, and the game is fun. I’ve listed three of my all time favorite literary crushes, you choose which one you would marry, date and dump. Enjoy!
