Top Ten Books I Would Love to See as a Movie

I’m definitely getting hooked at participating in Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week bloggers were asked to list the top ten books we’d love to see as a movie or TV show. The caveat – this challenge would be set in a perfect world where movies don’t butcher the books we love. I had a hard time narrowing down my choices to just ten, but here are my choices!

What books would you most like to see adapted into a movie or TV show?

*** I know there is an Ella Enchanted movie, but it doesn’t follow the book at all. I was so disappointed when I went to see the movie adaptation that I had to leave. I want a do-over!

  1. Sloppy Firsts would be an AWESOME movie, but I just don’t think ‘they’ would get it right. I mean, Jess is such a unique character, and I’m afraid that whoever was cast wouldn’t be able to pull her off. And Marcus. I would be devastated if the person they cast for Marcus wasn’t exactly as I pictured him (which of course, is impossible).
I was disappointed with the Ella Enchanted movie, as well. They changed it WAY too much for me to even be able to associate it with the book (which was awesome).
I still need to read The Night Circus, and now that I own it, hopefully I can read it ASAP!
    These are great picks 😀
    My Top Ten post 🙂

    1. Yeah I would only trust these books to become movies in the perfect world where directors and producers and actors (etc.) weren’t allowed to mess them up. Thanks for commenting. Your post was great too!

  2. Definitely I can think of some great books that had terrible movie adaptations. And that was it. No one tried again. One and done.

It’s a shame that some authors works are constantly being remade into movies, when there’s no need while other authors works are crying out for a new version since the last one was 1934!

  3. Great picks. But I’m afraid to see what the filmmakers would do with these beloved books. I trust some to get them right, but not others. You saw what happened with Ella Enchanted.
If they took the source material very seriously, maybe a great film could be produced, ala The Hunger Games, which had great casting.

  4. I have heard that Night Circus is close to happening – which if it does I will be the happiest little book nerd around. And if so – I really hope they get some of the creatives behind the Cirque de Soleil franchise to make it perfect. I feel like some of the scenes in Night Circus reminded me of different Cirque de Soleil shows I’ve seen – they could make it visually stunning if given the chance to make it come to life!

Book I want turned into a movie? (other than Night Circus of course) “On the Island” by Tracey Garvis-Graves. Loved Loved Loved it. Want to see it come to life on the big screen.
