I’ve started completing my first bookish resolution of 2014 by cracking open Anna Karenina, and although I am definitely struggling with the whole patronymic thing I am in a very Russian mood. So today I’ve given you three of my favorite heroes from Russian literature to marry, date, or dump. I’ve chosen Dr. Zhivago, Bazarov from Fathers and Sons, and Count Vronksy from Anna Karenina. However, if you want to substitute with your favorite Russian characters, be my guest! I’m excited to see who you choose in the comments.

Marry Zhivago – if he truly loved me otherwise he might be unfaithful
Date Bazarov – interesting but not marriage material
Dump Vronsky
good choices. I think I’m going to hold back on judging until I finish Anna Karenina.
Let me know your opinion on Anna Karenina once you finish reading the book…I am very curious to know if it matches mine
Thanks I will let you know! I’m only about fifty pages in now so I have a long ways to go.
I need to read these books. But I find the discussion fascinating. I saw the movie Dr. Zhivago. I don’t know why I haven’t read it. Will add these to my list.
I loved reading Russian novels in high school, but now they seem so long and daunting. Dr. Zhivago is a great read though!
I have to get back to you after reading Anna Karenina; my initial thoughts are marry Zhivago and dump Bazarov. He’s my favorite male literary character but is best left in the book. Poet > Biologist
