- I turned my thesis in yesterday. It’s been “done” for a long time, but seeing it professionally printed and bound felt scary official and surprisingly emotional. I just kept looking at it over and over again. Luckily, my mom asked for her own copy so even though the real thesis is on my dean’s desk I still have one to page through.
- So much time to read this week. After the reading dip during thesis, my resurgence is still going strong. I was delighted to finally read The Raven King, by Maggie Stiefvaters. I have so much love for Blue, Gansey, Adam, and Ronan and after four books about them I’m glad I know how their story ends. I also finished Kissing in America, by Margo Raab and All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation, by Rebecca Traister.
- On Wednesday, I got to see Mark Wilkerson, Phil Donahue, and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder on the stage at Housing Works to discuss this book and the ongoing effects of the war in Iraq. Very moving.
- My friend, Betsy Cornwell made her way on to the New York Times Bestseller list for her YA feminist Cinderella retelling Mechanica and I could not be more thrilled. If you haven’t read this book yet, what are you waiting for?
AHHHH! The thesis turned in … that has to feel so good. So proud of you, friend. I can’t believe how fast your MFA flew by!
Thank you! It’s gone by way too fast!
Yay you for doing your thesis! You must be so relieved 🙂
Thank you! I am feeling VERY relieved.
Yay!! For completed thesis!
I’d like to read All the Single Ladies too. How was it?
I LOVED that book so much. I wouldn’t stop talking about it to all my friends the entire time I was reading it. I highly recommend it.
Lol glad to hear you enjoyed it.
So excited for Betsy that is great!
